Truett's Bathroom | Rustic meets Industrial (with a twist of modern and a touch of classic)

We are almost halfway through the building process (fingers-crossed), and I have to say that this house has proven more of a challenge for me in terms of design. Since our plan is to show the house in the Parade of Homes, the pressure feels high. I want it to look just right but also feel like home, which means what is "on trend" must also work for our daily life and style.

I love Joanna Gaine's philosophy on home design. Home design cannot be separate from the unique needs and character of the family who live in it. After reading her book Homebody (and building up my design lingo), I have to describe my style for this house as rustic meets industrial. I am trying to marry those two styles, but with a classic twist and modern flair in Truett's bathroom.

My starting point for this room was the amazing vanity from a design belonging to Studio McGee. This vanity is in a bathroom from their Northridge Remodel. If you are at all interested in design and not already following Studio McGee, go do it now. I plan on building out our vanity exactly as you see below, including the off-white, khaki paint color.

From there, I fell in love with this wallpaper from Crate & Barrel. Nesting with Grace has me committed to trying out wallpaper for myself, so this will be a first.

I also want to find a mirror that has a built-in shelf. I envision a house plant in there, but the cool thing about having a mirror like that is the ability to dress it how however you want. I can change it over time too: soaps, plants, mason jar with bathroom necessities, etc. The one below is from Target.

I really want to play with mixing metals in this house. Our sink faucet will be black, and I think I want to get a brass light fixture. I love this simple, classic fixture from Pottery Barn. To tie in more brass, I plan on using brass hardware. I love this Patton Cabinet Knob from Rejuvenation.

Last, the rug is also from Rejuvenation. I recently discovered this shop, and I think it is a winner. Hopefully, I can pull some good pieces from here.

For now this is the plan. I can't wait to share more as rooms start to actually evolve. Let me know your thoughts.

P.S. I am trying to keep these home blog posts shorter so that I can keep up. What room do you want to see my plan for next? Or, do you want to see actual home photos?
